In Episode 50 of the HerStory Podcast, Kylie King steps out from behind the interviewer’s seat to share the real story behind the Australian Ladies in Business Initiative and the journey that led her from senior retail management burnout to entrepreneurship, networking, awards, and community building.
Recorded at 4:30am during maternity leave, this milestone episode marks the 50th HerStory Podcast release and reflects on where ALIBI began, why it exists, and how a single local networking meeting with zero attendees became the foundation for a national business community supporting thousands of women.
Kylie opens up about leaving corporate retail after unsustainable hours, navigating identity shifts as a new mother, building her first business, and discovering that mindset (not strategy) was the missing link for so many women in business. From there, she shares how networking, community, resilience, and courage shaped ALIBI into what it is today.
This episode is a reminder that you don’t need a perfect plan – you need integrity, persistence, and the courage to keep showing up, even when no one’s watching.
