In this episode of the HerStory Podcast, host Kylie King is joined by the versatile and visionary Jacinta Richmond, the founder of Madame Menopause. Jacinta shares her transition from a high-flying career in band venue management, five-star resorts, and founding the International Fashion Festival to becoming a Master Hypnotherapist focused on women’s health.
Jacinta discusses her own journey with early menopause and how she realised that many women don’t necessarily want to lose weight – they want to feel better about their changing bodies. Through her five-week hypnosis program and the “Madame Menopause Movement,” she is working to shift the narrative from negative self-talk and intense dieting to self-acceptance, empowerment, and even embracing “meno-rage.” This conversation is a must-listen for any woman looking to reclaim her power during perimenopause, menopause, and beyond.

My story begins under a lemon tree playing “shops” as a school kid with my grandmothers ballroom dancing costumes & great grandmothers costume jewellery, jumping forward to organising local community disco’s at age 15/16, onto found band venues, the managing nightclubs, a quick detour via operations manager (marketing & wine buying) for a 5 star resort in Fiji, The Australian Ballet School, & then single motherhood which brings along the full release of entrepreneurial spirit.
Melon (crochet bikinis which morphed into a cult childrens wear brand), Coconut luggage (designing & manufacturing my own limited edition brand), Toxic Virus followed by Single & Fabulous (a published author), then somehow the founder and director of the Sunshine Coast International Fashion Festival (11 years – encompassing Sunshine Coast Style Awards & a multi-year stint as a fashion columnist).
But I have always been a little bit “magic” and thought studying Past Life Regression to accompany the visions I got for people might be fun. A Master Hypnotherapist qualification followed – however – most of my clients were my peers coming to me for weight loss. I had gone into early menopause at age 41 so I had been through it. They all wanted weight loss. What I realised was what they wanted was what I had always acted upon – to feel good about themselves.
On the catwalk for the Sunshine Coast International Fashion Festival I had always embraced all ages (4-85) & sizes (8-22) – real sizes for a real market (same again for men).
Finally cutting to the chase – I developed a downloadable hypnosis program that takes women on the menopause journey through lightening the environment around them, to a week of changing eating habits, adding a little bit of movement and then into where it counts – positive body appreciation. Women’s bodies are miracles! They should be looked at in awe, appreciated for all they have done and will continue to do, the changes they go through across a lifetime. I personally can’t even begin to express how miraculous they are. So we need to change how we look at menopause and our bodies during this time.
